Drama Review of Doctor Stranger Ep 5

In episode 5, the premier's faithful bodyguard goes to verify whether Jae Hee is really in South Korea.  The female doctor he meets looks just like the girl in his memories who fell off the bridge.  Then we get a glimpse of a flash back in Jae Hee's mind.  In fact, Jae Hee had already seen Park Hoon in the hospital last time...but why did she intentionally walk away acting like she did not know?  Is she setting a trap for Hoon or just trying to protect him from being seen by the enemy?

Jae Hee becomes even more suspicious as she approaches Soo Hyun at her mother's house and tells her that she was Kim Eun Hee's doctor before transferring her to another hospital.  Jae Hee had received prior information about Oh Soo Hyun and her mother by some unknown person.  If my guess is correct, Jae Hee might be a North Korean spy.

Jae Hee tells Soo Hyun that she used to live with Kim Eun Hee to keep her company, that's why she has the key to her house.  In the house, Soo Hyun finds the birthday gifts which her mother kept for her each year but never gave to her.  There is also a drawing book of various stages in Soo Hyun's life meaning that her mother has been keeping an eye on her all this time.  Her mother only wanted her daughter to live a better life with her rich and glamorous father.  Soo Hyun cries thinking about her mother while Jae Hee comforts her.

Later Hoon is convoked for a group interrogation whereby all the other doctors are allowed to question him concerning the failed surgery.  Dr Han Jae Joon uses this opportunity to reprimand Hoon; asking him why he did a surgery which Hoon admitted himself had less than 5% chance of success.  Hoon replied that even if there is only 1% chance to succeed, it is a doctor's duty to try every option.  Hoon did not tell them that he did the surgery mainly because Oh Soo Hyun asked him a favor to save her mother.  However, Dr Han Jae Joon keeps on arguing with Hoon, telling him that he only performed the surgery to show off his pitiful skills;  calling him an ignorant quack doctor and saying that Hoon killed the patient.

I think Han Jae Joon is going too far by calling Hoon a quack doctor...at least Hoon tried his best to save Kim Eun Hee.  The patient was already in a terminally ill condition, I mean at least he tried something instead of just accepting her ill-fate right away without lifting a single finger.
Even the other doctors agree with me that Han Jae Joon went too far with his harsh words...

Just when Oh Soo Hyun was going to reveal that she was the one who asked Hoon to save her mother, Hoon spouts out some nonsense that he did it for money and decides to leave the meeting, but is stopped by Han Jae Joon who tells him that he is not a real doctor then ends the conference.
Me: Darn that Han Jae Joon!!  Does he think he is the big boss there?!   Geez this guy must have a superiority complex...
Before everyone leaves the room, Hoon replies:  Then I can't call you a doctor either since you get paid to practice surgeries.  What about all the doctors here? Do you do surgeries for free without expecting a pay check at the end of the month?
Facing Han Jae Joon, Hoon tells him:  Why I did it? Because I tried to be a real doctor by trying to save someone's life!!  Then why didn't you do it?! Because the success rate is too low? Do you do only surgeries that you think are safe? That's what you call a doctor? The patient wanted to live and others wanted her to live. Is it right to leave the doctor to die? Is that what a doctor should do? Tell me.
(LOL excellent one Hoon; you really nailed them with that statement ^^Well said Hoon!!  With that Han Jae Joon has to shut his trap :P)
Han Jae Joon remains quiet, not knowing what to say.  Pissed off with those bunch of quack doctors, Hoon leaves the room.

Dr Moon runs out of the room to come after Hoon, telling him: Have you lost your mind?
Hoon replies: I think I did for a minute...
But adds nonchalantly: but I wasn't wrong :)
Still Dr Moon tells him that he should apologize because the Director is on the verge of firing him.

Back in the conference room, Oh Soo Hyun tells Han Jae Joon that he crossed the line with Hoon and that he was just ranting his frustration on him because he could not do the surgery.  Soo Hyun even admits that Hoon really did his best to save her mom and she does not blame Hoon for her mother's death.
(Yes that's right! I agree with Soo Hyun)

Back to Hoon.  After listening to Dr Moon's words, Hoon goes to apologize to the director for not being able to save the patient.  The director tells him that this is not the reason he should be apologizing for and that he is fired.  Hoon then gets down on his knees saying that he was wrong for not listening to his orders (of not practicing the surgery) and will not do so again.
The director replies: That's good.  Then leave now that's my will.

Later, Hoon receives a phone call from the old man he paid to find Jae Hee.  The old man tells him that he found Jae Hee but Hoon has to bring the money then he'll let him know.
Me: I think the old man is going to die or something and Hoon will not be able to find out yet...it's way too soon...anyway someone's tailing the old man.

I was right, the one who was tailing them shot at the tyre of an incoming truck to deviate it right towards the old man's car. Just like I thought, the one who was tailing them is the tyrant from episode 1 (I don't know his name, so I'll call him the tyrant for now ^^'')

Coming back to the story, fortunately the old man is still alive.  Hoon takes him rapidly back to his own hospital and prepares to perform the surgery there.  Dr Moon who was waiting for him there, tells Hoon to wait for the ambulance but Hoon refuses because he knows there is not much time left.

Because of the lack of equipment in Hoon's hospital, it is difficult to operate.  But with his skills, Hoon finds the internal wound and removes the broken bone which was piercing the patient's heart.
Dr Moon stares in astonishment at Hoon who is now sewing the wound although it is hidden beneath a considerable amount of blood.

The remaining part of the operation is left to the MyunWoo University hospital (lol I forgot the name and had to search the web to find the name of the hospital; I also found out that this drama was produced by the same director who produced 'City Hunter'; no wonder that several actors who appear here were also in City Hunter.  Even the screen writing style and pace are similar to City Hunter.)

The old man can be saved, Park Hoon has already done all the work there isn't much for the hospital team to do.  Park Hoon is happy and relieved that he can finally find Jae Hee and hugs his friend Chang Yi.  (Me: don't hug Chang Yi like that, she might fall for you too...  don't just hug girls so easily...what a bad habit.  Anyway, Hoon is still not suspecting anything strange about the sudden accident that the old man was involved in...come on you need to be more alert to those things!)

Now that I think about it...isn't the tyrant also the bad guy in City Hunter...they look kinda alike...not sure but after seeing several City Hunter cast in Dr Stranger, it is highly possible ^^''

Returning back to the drama, Han Jae Joon is drunk and confesses to Oh Soo Hyun that he did rant at Park Hoon because he was frustrated that she was siding with the latter.  Oh Soo Hyun accepts Han Jae Joon's apology and they hug each other.  However, Jae Joon's eyes turn towards the Myung Woo hospital.
Me:  I think that Jae Joon's ultimate goal is to own to Myung Woo hospital.  That must have been his prior reason to approach Oh Soo Hyun.  Oh Soo Hyun or the hospital? which is the most important to him now? We still don't know?  But in my point of view, he is still a suspicious character.

Park Hoon is being too careless...he's still not suspecting anything while the tyrant has already kidnapped the old man.

In the Blue House, the Premier Jang is furious to learn that Park Hoon was fired from the hospital.

Hoon decides to check the hospital's CCTVs to verify whether it was really Jae Hee he saw last time.  However, the security staff in teh CCTV room refuse to let him in.  Chang Yi comes back to Hoon to tell him that her mother said that Jae Hee was shot two years ago  in a foreign country and died in their cell as confirmed by a doctor who examined her in North Korea.
However, Hoon refuses to believe that Jae Hee is dead and persists to check the CCTV to prove that Jae Hee is still alive.
Oh Soo Hyun who learnt about Hoon's story from Chang Yi decides to help Hoon find the CCTV footage he was looking for.  But the image on the CCTV footage is too blurred for Hoon to confirm if it was really Jae Hee.  Moreover, both of them get caught by the Soo Hyun's half brother who brought the security guards along with him.  The evil half-brother sends both of them in prison for trespassing.

In their prison cell, Soo Hyun asks Hoon if it was Jae Hee on the CCTV footage but Hoon replies that he is not sure.  Then Soo Hyun asks him what kind of person Jae Hee is and all that Hoon can say is that Jae Hee smiled a lot...  Hoon starts crying just by thinking about Jae Hee...(honestly, I don't understand why he likes her so much)

Then we move on to Jae Hee.  I think I was right, she is indeed plotting something with that tyrant....(According to me Jae Hee is not to be trusted...she is a double faced character...her intentions are not clear to me yet...I wonder if this has to do with Park Hoon taking her father's life to save her...)
Could there plan be for Hoon to work in the surgeon team and assassinate the Premier or sometihing like that...?  If not then why was the tyrant disappointed that Hoon was fired from the hospital...?

Soo Hyun's father comes to bail her out but she refuses to leave without Hoon.
Soo Hyun's half-brother tells Soo Hyun that he knows she was trying to backstab him by checking the CCTV footage of the day when her mother was transferred to their hospital.
Hearing that, Soo Hyun remembers Han Seung Hee (actually Jae Hee) the girl who transferred her mother to  Myung Woo hospital.

Then we see Jae Hee visiting Hoon's hospital in secret.
Soo Hyun accompanies Hoon to his hospital because she needs to check Jae Hee's picture to confirm her intuition that Han Seung Hee and Jae Hee are the same woman.
After seeing the video of Jae Hee, Soo Hyun tells Hoon that she saw her (as Han Seung Hee)

Jae Hee on the other hand is trying to convince the tyrant to allow her to reveal herself to Hoon.
Looks like their plan is for Hoon is to have him work at Myung Woo hospital.  Jae Hee was just a bait for him to work at that hospital.  My guess was right, Jae Hee is really a spy from N.Korea as she asks the tyrant to kill her since only death awaits her as she did not complete her mission for her country.

Soo Hyun and Hoon rush to the hospital where Jae Hee works but she is nowhere  to be found.

However, Jae Hee succeeds in convincing the tyrant to let her reveal herself to Hoon and she goes to meet Oh Soo Hyun.  Hoon finally sees Jae Hee in front of him.
The episode ends here.
