Taiwanese Drama - The pursuit of Happiness

Hi everyone

Happy Chinese New Year 2015 !!

It's the year of the Goat which is known for its creative, kind, calm and gentle nature.

I hope this year won't be too bad for those born in the year of the goat...as per the following predictions, that I've read on Latin Times (Chinese New Year 2015 Horoscope Predictions For 'Year Of The Sheep,   http://www.latintimes.com/chinese-new-year-2015-horoscope-predictions-year-sheep-296702)
“Contrary to common belief, it being the year of the zodiac itself doesn't necessarily warrant a good prediction. For the Sheep, you might meet with many obstacles, unhappiness or embarrassing episodes. Even with extra effort, things might not look as good as you have planned. However, don't give up! All these are only momentary, take it as a ‘training’ year and you will be able to prepare yourself for all the goodness next year.”

Me: Stay strong people who fall under the Chinese zodiac sign of the Sheep.  This year might have already begun with tough challenges for you, but don't give up!!  Hwaiting !! You will succeed in achieving your dreams !!

Now coming back to the title of this post, I've just finished watching a Taiwanese drama called ' The pursuit of happiness'.  I really like the title because like most people, I am constantly in a pursuit for happiness.  We as humans are continuously in search of happiness or for our own meaning of happiness.

Warning: Lots of spoilers await you if you continue to read.

^^  So beware.

This drama is about a cool & confident 35 year old Office lady called Ji An Lei who still hasn't found a life partner.  She still believes in love and is unwilling to choose just anyone to be her match.  However the one she has been in love with for almost 15 years now, has found another love and doesn't feel the same for her anymore.

Then there is that ordinary guy called Huang Yi Kang who moves in to live with Ji An Lei as her roommate.  At first Ji An Lei and him don't get along very well because of their differing opinions but later on living together becomes a habit.  Both of them start to grow feelings for each other but they mistake it for just the habit of being together and not love; especially Ji An Lei who refuses to believe that Huang Yi Kang can really be in love with her.  Finally after their disagreement, both of them go separate ways with Huang Yi Kang moving out of the house.  However, during their separation, both realize that they miss each other terribly, but is it because of love or because of habit?

After having a serious conversation with his father concerning love, Huang Yi Kang realizes that love can also grow into a habit; meaning that without love you could easily fallout of habit of being together, i.e. it wouldn't really matter much if they were separated.
Huang Yi Kang goes back to look for Ji An Lei and tells her how much he loves her.  Ji An Lei also confesses that she missed him a lot.
(Side Note:  I think I haven't heard Ji An Lei confess that she is in love with him. It was only Huang Yi Kang who told her that he loves her...  Well I guess, Ji An Lei also loves him but she does not really express it in words...)

My Dislikes:
Well there is also another couple in this drama.  There are like two love triangles which later on turn into two pairs of couple.  I didn't really like the story of the 2nd couple because it is very draggy & cliche whereby the girl's father does not accept his daughter's boyfriend because he does not have a financially stable job.  I think their story was just an unoriginal side story used to fill in the time slot of this drama.

Personally, I don't like the 2nd guy protagonist; I guess he's just not my type, you see the type who is irresponsible, acts rashly and selfishly.  The way he dumped Ji An Lei itself was so selfish that I don't understand why the heck she could keep on loving him for 15 years.  Does this make sense? The guy is a trouble maker...How can you like someone like that.

It took a bit too long for the main couple to realize and accept that they love each other, especially on Ji An Lei's side.  I would have preferred that they get together earlier and we could have had more screen time of their future together such as a date, the wedding & their new born.  (A bit like in the K-drama 'My lovely Samsoon')

My Likes:
I'm glad that Ji An Lei ended up with Huang Yi Kang.  Yi Kang is a responsible, reliable and nice person, I really like this type of character.  Now that I think about it, it's rare that this type of personality is used for the male lead; because this is usually the personality reserved for the 2nd lead who always ends up being dumped by the main girl.

There are some really romantic scenes which make you squeal or hold your breath; for example when Ji An Lei & Huang Yi Kang hug for the first time and when Huang Yi Kang makes the first move to kiss Ji An Lei (>_<)  They have excellent on-screen chemistry with together.  ^^

Ji An Lei has some formidable friends who are always there to support her during hard times and she is also there to advise them when they are having various love issues.

The Opening song of this drama is also really nice; after listening to it several times throughout the drama, I've grown to like it a lot.  The lyrics and melody are just simple and catchy.

Here's the link for the song:

I hope you enjoy this drama as much as I did ^^

It's a good watch, the actors are good and the story line is entertaining.

I want to write a story...called 'Soul Quest'

The story I want to write is about magic, fantasy and adventure.

The name of the story is 'Soul Quest'.

The first episode / chapter is titled as 'Kai Shin's return' (In french it'll be 'Le retour de Kai Shin')

I've actually started working on this story for a while now but it's still in bits and pieces in my head...it's not concrete yet but I've started to draw the first few pages.

Honestly, I don't have much spare time to draw and write the story seriously so it turned out as little bits & pieces...the story might even look like there are images / parts missing...

The story might not be that interesting but it's a first for me so I just wanted to share my amateurish work ^^''  I'm sharing the first 10 pages of the story.

Note:  All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is purely coincidental.

I hope you liked the story so far...there isn't much happening but I'll try to make it more interesting.

The next part might have more text than drawings because of the lack of time I have to work on this, but I'll try to draw more illustrations as much as possible.

Bye & see u

Pursuit of Happiness

'Happiness' is such a vague term but has vast meanings at the same time.

'Happiness' has so many different meanings for each of us.

What is Happiness?

Feeling like a fluffy cloud which is so light that you can float high up in the air like a balloon filled with helium and feeling like you don't have a care in the world (Note: I'm not saying that you have to take drugs to achieve this feeling. Please don't misunderstand.)

Or

Happiness can be felt after making a big achievement after working very hard on something extremely meaningful to you.

Or

Happiness is the feeling you have when you spend time with the one or the ones you love.

Some people find the most happiness in material things like money, luxury and all the tralala...etc

Happiness can be having a new member to your family.

Happiness can be eating your favorite dessert.

Happiness can be simply having a place to call home.

For the time being my definition of 'Happiness' is simply finding a job which I really like and which does not depress me every single day...

Hopefully I can find it soon.

I'm sure there are many people in the same situation as me so I wish you all the best in finding your dream job.

Hwaiting!! Fighting !!

I need lots of 'fighting' too, especially these days...

I seem to be running out of energy...

See you for another post.

Injustice / Unfairness

I'm really angry & frustrated today after the unfairness I've been put through.

To think that this type of mentality still exists in our developed world whereby some people of high ranking (supposedly) are selective about the persons who can speak to them.

If you are from a lower social class or if you are situated lower on the corporate ladder, you cannot address people who are at the top of the hierarchy because they look down on you like vulgar insects from where they stand.  What's so different between them and us ?!! Aren't they made of flesh & blood as well just like any other humans...'I'm not necessarily asking them to treat everyone as equals but at least show some respect to someone who is an equal to you in species, right!!'  I mean you are still human you know !? You're not a god !!  Even God treats humans better than humans treat each other...for Pete's sake !!

You can even get severely scolded for even taking the initiative to speak to someone from that supposedly high level to request something.  Is this really the 21st century?! Where is the freedom of speech!?  Can't you even voice out your opinion when you're not even being insulting or sarcastic with your words?!

Is this some kind of K-drama in which the rich Chaebols look down on the middle class or lower class people.  What's so great about them that they think so highly of themselves and even get you into troubles because you just spoke to them.  A person victim to that type of treatment would feel greatly betrayed by that unfairness inflicted upon them by their own people.

No matter how hard you work to do your best, people always find ways to bring you down with their remarks and criticisms.  People just don't realize how hard you have been working and what you have to put up with to achieve certain goals.  On the other hand, you might also be inflicting the same unfairness to your peers but you have no choice due to the social pressure or work pressure.  When you think about it, pressure & stress is just something created by humans and inflicted by humans on each other...

I guess all this brings us to think that people should just stop interacting with each other and just do their own thing & live their own life like Robinson Crusoe.  But if you do that, you might just end up lonely and depressed as well.  Either ways you'll end up hurt.  Life is just so complicated.  Even little insignificant things / happenings can be turned into such huge issues / scandals when they don't really matter much or cause any harm in the first place.

It is after all humans who created Apartheid (which reminds you of Nelson Mandela's sacrifice
for freedom).

It is humans who created racism.
It is humans who created social hierarchy.

For animals it's just the survival of the fittest.

All this brings us to the conclusion that unfairness / injustice will always exist in the world (even among animals).

You can never escape from unfairness unless you are that lucky person who never suffered any injustice in their whole life.

I guess it's enough now, I should stop venting out my annoyance in this blog because it can be seen as really gloomy and pessimist by my viewers.

Thank you for reading. This is just an insight on how bad my day was today.

Lets keep on living to find happiness.

I'm feeling really sleepy right now and I've ranted enough for today, so lets just take a break from this hell of a living day.
