Cool drawing of Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul

Hi World ^^

I've just finished watching Season 1 & 2 of the anime 'Tokyo Ghoul' and I felt like I had to draw a fanArt in honor of the creator of this awesome series, Mr Sui Ishida.

I have to admit that at first I was taken aback by the topic of this anime.  The story basically
revolves around monsters called 'Ghouls' who eat humans as food.  However, to the viewers the Ghouls are not depicted completely as the villains because some of them are also trying to live peacefully among the humans while others are bloodthirsty monsters who would not hesitate to kill or torture & eat to their satisfaction.  On the other hand, the same can be said about the humans in the story who would not hesitate to kill any Ghouls, even the innocent young ones, because to them all Ghouls are monsters.  Doesn't this remind you of wars, whereby both sides are in the wrong but not just the wrongdoers are killed, even the innocents die as a result of the war.

Ghouls and humans are like natural enemies.  Ghouls have no other choice but to consume human flesh and humans being the physically weaker species, have no choice but to exercise any means to defend themselves and exterminate the threat they see in Ghouls.

Kaneki Ken is the main protagonist in 'Tokyo Ghoul'.  At the beginning of the story, Kaneki is a
very plain character who was brought up to believe in kindness, justice and ethics.  However, as the story develops and Kaneki experiences many horrors in the Ghoul world, his mindset about justice and ethics changes completely. He finally sets a goal for himself and becomes a character with determination to reach that goal at any cost.

In season 2, Kaneki joins a terrorist group of Ghouls called Aogiri.  He becomes one of those who want to make a difference even if they have to kill and hurt others.  Kaneki wants to protect the ones he cares about so desperately, that they become his strength and lack of remorse to go to any length to protect them even if he has to kill, murder and do other horrible things.

Sure there are some horrid scenes in this anime including cannibalism, physical torture, violence, murders and strange behavior among others, but the story in itself is well written and the character development is really good.  There are some highly eccentric & insane characters as well, but each character has a past which has turned them into how they are now.  Some characters have changed into the worst while others have changed to the better.

Anyway, if you like sci-fi, horror, mystery, thriller, psychological, supernatural and tragedy genre of stories then I would recommend ‘Tokyo Ghoul’ to you.

Other stories having similar genres which I can recommend are:

1.    ‘Mirai Nikki a.k.a Future Diary’  by Esuno Sakae (Available in anime & manga)

2.    ‘Full Metal Alchemist’ by Hiromu Arakawa (Available in anime & manga)

3.     'Liar Game' by Shinobu Kaitani  (Available in live action drama & manga.  Note: I did not finish reading the manga & I only watched a few episodes of the drama, but I know it's a good story ^^'')

If you have other stories to recommend, feel free to comment ^^
