Now...what K-drama should I watch?

I've just finished watching 'The Heirs' a few days ago.
The ending was kind of lacking in event.  The last episode had nothing special, nothing surprising or touching.  It actually lacked in terms of impact on viewers especially to people who have watched lots of drama and are experienced drama viewers...cough, cough...ehem...such as me maybe lol ;)
To me it felt like an ending just to wrap up the drama because it had to be 20 episodes long and not more. The last episode to me can be compared to a  student's not so creative conclusion to an essay; a conclusion which was written just for the sake of finishing the story and not really to leave a lasting impression on the reader.  Personally I think the story should not have ended like that, it should have been more eventful or more dramatic or happier or maybe a little humor to leave a lasting impression on the audience after reaching the end of the drama.

But 'The Heirs' ending is not the worst that I've seen when compared to the ending for 'High kick through the roof'.

Anyway, now I've just started watching the drama 'Faith' also known as 'The great doctor'.  In fact, 'Faith' is a drama in which Lee Min Ho starred in.  This drama has a historical and supernatural theme.

When this drama was first released it did not really spark my interest because I was not really into historical drama.  But lately I've watched a historical drama known as 'Beauties of the emperor' and I found the story line and characters really compelling.

Also, after watching a review of the drama 'Faith', it appeared quite interesting and original to me.  So I'm currently watching this k-drama called 'Faith'.  I'll write a review for it later :)

My review of K-drama 'The Heirs' Episode 12

Hi,
I've just finished watching episode 12 of 'The Heirs' starring Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye and I felt like writing my thoughts about this episode.

Be aware that if you continue to read this review as the title itself hints, there'll be spoilers.

Firstly the last part of this episode felt most interesting to me.  It's a decisive episode, whereby the lead character Kim Tan (cute name, isn't it ^_^) finally decides to reveal the long kept secret about his birth.  After all he is the illegitimate son of the owner of Jeguk (Korean conglomerate/ Chaebol), i.e. the son born from a mistress and not from the legitimate wife.  This secret has been kept so long supposedly to protect Kim Tan, so that his future is not compromised by his origins.  But isn't Kim Tan just a victim in all this; he's rather been like a puppet under the control of his father who just wants to use him to secure a business deal through a business alliance formed through an arranged marriage.
The treatment that the father gives to his illegitimate son Kim Tan is so different from how the father in the drama 'Baker King' treats his illegitimate son Kim Tak Gu (for those who watched Baker King, you'll see the nuance).

According to me Kim Tan is definitely not at fault here for revealing the truth; in fact this situation could have been revealed much earlier.  The president of Jeguk should have taken responsibility for the woman he took in as a mistress, after all he divorced his wife already.  There shouldn't have been anything to hide.  Of course people's point of view on Kim Tan would have been different if they knew he is a mistress' son.  People would have mostly looked down on him; but even so, Kim Tan is still a heir of Jeguk no matter who his mother is.  Doesn't his father even have the guts to admit his mistake, and raise his own son proudly without caring about others' opinions. Still I have to admit that this situation is quite controversial as Kim Tan's father is still the chairman of a powerful conglomerate and this kind of background could have a big impact on the corporation's image and reputation.  Effectively having an extramarital affair can definitely have repercussions on one's reputation and credibility.  Even the family members would feel betrayed knowing about the extramarital affair; therefore Kim Won (Kim Tan's half-brother) cannot be fully blamed for his cold treatment towards Kim Tan.

Again, I realize that Kim Tan is just a victim in this story.
But what makes the story appealing is that although Kim Tan is a victim, he still gradually builds up the courage to escape from the lie created by others and withheld over the years.  He finally decided to face his worst fear and go against his father no matter what hardships will follow.  As a first step to the throne, Kim Tan had to get rid of the ticking bomb (the lie) which has been hanging over his head for such a long time.

I believe that this episode-12 is Kim Tan's first step in changing his life to achieve his goals which include being one step closer to Eun Sang and to remain by her side despite all the odds.  Lets say 'falling in love with Eun Sang' was the trigger which drove Kim Tan to take such a consequential decision to break out of his safety zone.  This decision of Kim Tan was also a good one despite all its drawbacks because Kim Tan as a son has finally done something to make people realize the existence of his mother.  Kim Tan proudly stood by the side of his mother, this shows that he really cares for his mother and is aware of the hardships and sacrifice that his mother made.  Although the drama revolves around the love story of Kim Tan and Eun Sang, this drama is also about family, different types of family; the importance of a mother was even highlighted several times in the drama.

That's about all I wanted to say; with this comes the end of my review of episode 12.

I don't know how the story will develop from here on; but it is definitely an interesting story for those who like watching dramas having twists and turns.  :)

P.s.: I think that the Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye pairing in this drama makes a really compatible couple, there's no denying that they look good together and that there is chemistry between them during their scenes together. Also, the romantic scenes between Kim Tan and Eun Sang might seem cheesy and unrealistic to many; but I think a drama is an escape from reality therefore people who like dramas would appreciate those simple hug or kiss scenes between the two lead characters.

In fact those scenes remind me of Disney animation because a song is played in the background during epic moments.  Personally, I replayed those special scenes several times because I think that those scenes were so well captured while being accompanied with the background song (2am - ChangMin's 'Love is the moment') and all other video effects.

Definitely, Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye did a really great job in acting out the right emotions and expressions during their romantic moments together in the drama to capture the hearts of the audience in supporting the Kim Tan and Eun Sang couple.
